This beautiful yarn is the from the regular Woodland Collection and my work with our local woodland group.
This yarn has been dyed with Lichen that has been collected, with permission, in the gardens and woodlands around Loch Ness. The Lichen has been soaked for a period of many months before being applied to the yarn. Although difficult, rare and time consuming to make Lichen dye has a reputation for being a stable and long lasting dye with less fade over time than other natural sources.
This yarn is also special because it was solar dyed using the passive energy of the sun through my studio windows. This process took another 5 months on top of the months to develop the initial dye, and these skeins used a 2nd exhaust to make sure that none of the pigment gained from the Lichen went to waste. So overall these skeins are a labour of love and capture the essence of summer in the Scottish Highlands.
Each 100g Merino skein is 166m of a very pale pink. This is a lovely neutral combination and will look beautiful when made up, full of subtle colour changes and detail. It would work beautifully as the base colour in a stranded knitting project.
I offer free shipping for all orders over £50.
