Loch Ness Yarn

In 2021 Dwynwen launched her own brand of Loch Ness Yarn.  This yarn is made from locally sourced fleece and milled in Scotland.  Dwynwen sources fleece from small farms and crofts within 12 miles of the shores of Loch Ness.  The process brings together the shared values of sustainable and local production, along with high animal welfare and regenerative farming practises.
The first year of this project was part funded by Creative Scotland and a profile appears on the Distributed Design website, bringing together European makers and businesses.

Mighty Acorns

In Autumn 2018 Gordonstoun school felled two historic oak trees. Working in partnership with the school Dwynwen visited the campus and collected bark, leaves, acorns and lichens from the felling. Dwynwen then spent the Winter months transforming these into dye and eventually into a collection of limited edition items.  The bespoke collection of hats, wraps and sweaters will then be sold by the school to raise money for the Mighty Acorns Scholarships project.
If you have a waste opportunity project to discuss with Loch Ness Knitting please contact Dwynwen by email.

Aural Textiles

The Aural Textiles project was led by the Glasgow School of Art - Innovation School and funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh.  The aim of the project was to inspire design using sounds of the Scottish landscape.
Dwynwen used sounds recorded by Loch Ness to inspire textured knits and unusual stranded patterns, made using sustainable naturally dyed yarn.
